The best advice I can give is definitely layered. I think reading is also important for aspiring writers. So much you can learn from reading other authors, both about yourself as a writer and about others. I also think it's important to connect with writing mentors so that you can get feedback on whatever new work you are writing. Having mentors has been invaluable for me.

One of the best things about being a writer is connecting with readers and finding out how much my story/my experience resonates with others. I feel that writing helps to connect me with a larger community.

I try to work through writer's block, but try not to stress myself out too much. If I'm having a particularly hard time writing new work, those are the times I will revisit and edit pieces that I've previously written. This way I still feel productive.
