For me, writer's block is usually caused by stress, so the best thing I can do for myself is to take my dog for a walk or cook something to work through the block and get back to writing.

I know everyone says this, but just keep writing. There is no magic trick or shortcut. Being an author is 100% hard work, but if writing really is something you love, keep at it. Remember that you are writing for yourself as much as the reader. Fall in love with your characters and tell a story they would be proud of. And, perhaps the most important, take criticism to heart. You can only get better.
