The Parmesan of Power, or The Cheese Incident. When I was...I don't know, ten or so, the fam was out to dinner at a place that specialized in meatball subs. They had pizzeria style parmesan shakers on the table. Midway through dinner, I lifted the shaker up for the tenth time, and I swear my brothers and I all saw that on this latest lifting, a golf-ball sized clump of cheese magically appeared under the shaker on the table. Inspection of the shaker revealed no trap door or secret passageway, meaning MAGIC happened. I popped the entire cheese ball into my face. My mouth flooded with umami, and I've felt the Power of the Parmesan inside me, ever since.

Star Trek Original Series characters: Kirk/Spock (a million times over. ;)
I know, I know, that's not what you meant! I think I'd have to go with Tristan and Isolde. I think that the love potion in the legends is a great metaphor for the spark of love that doesn't care about a person's station or duties. If their tale is new to you, I suggest checking it out!
Eros and Psyche is a close second. -M

I wrote one of those 'learn about dragon books' before they were cool when I was in high school. In college I wrote screenplays. After college I wrote a ton of poetry. 20 years after writing that still-unpublished dragon book, I started working on Infinite Vampire.
What motivates me to write is the thrill of creating and delivering a packaged experience to someone. I can create a world, fill it with characters, have them interact, allow them to reach their goals -- or have them dashed before their eyes -- and create excitement in readers. I love to read, and I find writing to be both the most challenging and rewarding thing I could do!
