Bob Nelson I am writing a sequel to Finding Grace on the Red River. Some of my readers felt that there were too many threads left hanging, questions left unanswered. I do not want to answer all of them, but I am not sure that everyone understands the title and I hope to clarify that with the sequel.
Bob Nelson I wanted to write something completely different from my first novel--Homeroom, A Shelter From the Storm--which was inspired by experiences from my 43 year teaching career. I wanted to write something as far removed from my personal history as possible while still maintaining some voice of self perspective. I would listen to Red River Shore by Bob Dylan and various images would pop into my mind. My final image, which had nothing to do with the lyrics of the song, centered on a young man with an orphaned daughter by the side of a road. I knew I had to explain who they were and how they got there. The book starts with this first image and competes the destiny of these characters.
