I'm not really sure! I sat down at the computer one day and just started typing. I realised that the name 'John' kept coming to me every time that a character appeared and that's how I ended up with 1,348 of them!

Leave the writing for a bit, and move on to something else. Normally taking my mind off the thing that's bothering me will give it a chance to sort through things and I'll be itching to get back to the keyboard in no time!
