Thank you for your question Roger. The answer is yes - I was very naive when I first came to DC, and this experience plus all of my life experiences continued to shape my views on social values and norms. My personal values were influenced by the teachings and examples I received from my parents.

I started the book about 15 years ago as a way to discuss broad social customs through a series of essays. When I semi-retired, I picked the book up again, and it evolved into a book containing stories and a look into my personal life to highlight the influences my family and community had on my social values.
