I have a goal of writing 1-2 pages a day. I go to bed thinking about my story and wake up and shower thinking about it. I find I usually get ideas during those times that enable me to continue writing. I know how the story will end when I start writing it, so I need to move the story to that ending. Having an end goal in sight helps me not to have to rewrite too much.

I was reading a multi-volume fantasy series and was getting frustrated keeping track of all the characters as well as by the detailed descriptions. I said to myself, "I can do better than that." Then I pondered, "Why don't I?" I was interested in integrating my Christian faith into a book along the lines of The Lord of the Rings, so I credit both arrogance and spirituality inspiring me to write.

My most recent book I am working on was initially inspired by the Alien movie series. I'm fascinated by parasites that live in the body and burrow their way out causing death. The story is much more than that, but the concept set the opening scenes of the book.
