Kata Mlek I live in Bielsko-Biala, in the southern Poland, right at the border with Slovakia and Czech Republic. Tarnow is about 200 km away from here. Krakow - 150 km. Warsaw, the capitol of Poland, 350 km. Greetings for your family!
Kata Mlek Basically I have to leave my comfort zone to get inspired. As long as I stay in my cosy studio in the attic of my house, I don't get any great ideas. This place is lovely, calm, good to work on the text, but not to think of something new. So I just do something completely unsual for me. This includes traveling and some extreme sports. I wonder how far will I go beyond the comfort zone to write a new book in six years let's say. Probably very, very far.
Kata Mlek I am currently working on a few new projects. You can group them into two cathegories:
1. Translations (into English) of existing novels.
2. Developing new material (short stories and novels).
I joke I am working on six books in two different languages, so a lot is going on.

Kata Mlek My advice is pretty straightforward: don't give up. And when you feel like giving up, send me an e-mail. I will do my best to cheer you up and to make you continue with the writing. My e-mail address is katamlek@icloud.com.
Kata Mlek There are only bright sides of this proffession I think. But the best thing about being a writer is the possibility to influence the world. I don't mean big changes, but small, important for a few persons. When I can make someone happy, make someone feel better because he or she reads my book it feels great.
Kata Mlek In these pretty unpleasant moments I go back to letters from Vincent van Gogh to his brother Theo. "Many painters are afraid in front of the blank canvas, but the blank canvas is afraid of the real, passionate painter who dares and who has broken the spell of `you can't' once and for all." - this is what van Gogh says in one of them. I think blank piece of paper is more affraid of me, then I am affraid of this piece of paper. All I need to do is to realize that and just keep going, word by word, until empty page gives up.
Kata Mlek I went for a short vacation. It was supposed to be a calm, nice stay in a hotel, which (I have no idea how it happened) turned into a boat trip. We all on the boat felt so great, we started to think what would happen if we stole it and went to Caribbean. I have to work on some technical details of the trip, but it would be possible.
