John, thank you. Part of my problem is I have this English degree, and I want to show it off!!! (I paid for it, I should use it) But I find my critique turns into analysis, and so I am on page 10 of how the use of dragons as a metaphor for freedom does not work before I delete everything and start over. Then I become hyper critical about everything and just sound ... bitchy? Delete draft 2. By draft 5 a quit. 2-Stars
John Brage Ha! Aim more for "book review" and less for "Master's thesis". But you see all types. Some do the 6 word blurb while some analyze the font used in the title on the cover. I guess it matters how much time you have.

John, I saw in your introduction you enjoy writing book reviews. HOW? I decided I would write a review of a book I was given through Goodreads - and it was the most frustrating exercise I have ever experienced. Jack
John Brage Hi Jack. I'm not sure there is one right way to do a review. I usually identify the genre and then try to give a general idea of the plot without including any spoilers. I include the aspects I liked, the ones I didn't, and then try to summarize by describing whether I enjoyed reading it or not. I hope this helps.

How do you get inspired to write?
John Brage I see writing as just organized thinking. I had what I thought was an interesting premise for a story and I really wanted to see where it would go.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
John Brage Write even when you don't feel like it. Join social networking groups with other writers so you can learn from some of the experiences they have had.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
John Brage I spend 2 hours each day driving back and forth to work. One evening the premise for The Protocols of Uma just popped into my head.

What are you currently working on?
John Brage Now that my scifi trilogy, The Journeyers' Tale, is complete, I've been working on a dark fantasy stand alone with what I think is a super cool premise.
