My favourite fictional couple are Cato and Macro from Simon Scarrow's Roman series. They're not a couple in the traditional sense, but have a bond of friendship that runs so deep, looking out for each other's backs in, not only the life threatening fights, but also the dangerous political intrigue of the Roman Empire. They are entirely believable characters.
