Glen Shuld Attempting to draw attention to The Color of Character. I worked on it for ten years, and it is coincidental that I finished it and published it at a time when the subject matter is currently part of our daily conversation.
Glen Shuld I read the news voraciously. When I read something that bothers me, I think about a creative way to respond to it. I next plan to write a play about a serious subject that is gnawing at me (when anything is unjust, I can't abide it), yet somehow make it funny.
Glen Shuld The Color of Character came from my own childhood experiences with race relations. In the ensuing decades, I never once read or heard a perspective that mirrored my own based on actual experience on the subject.
Glen Shuld You can do it. Just sit down and write. Don't look too far ahead. Write what you want to say. Figure out how to link all those thoughts together at a later time. Put your thoughts down, and you're a writer.
Glen Shuld You get to say what is on your mind. If it's politically incorrect, you could put those words in the mouth of a character, and deny that it is you.
