Sonja Anderson I'll let you know if I ever encounter it! Finding the time to write is harder than knowing what to write, for me.
Sonja Anderson Absolutely the best thing about writing for children is the privilege of working in an elementary school library and seeing children of all backgrounds checking out my book, week after week after week!
Sonja Anderson Don't write unless you have an idea that truly won't let you go, and then be willing to learn as much as you can about telling that story in the very best way. Realize that the writing journey can take a very long time ("Sophie's Quest" took fifteen years!), so you can't forget to live while you're writing. Be a good mom, be a good wife, have fun along the way!
Sonja Anderson I'm currently working on the sequel to Sophie's Quest, titled "Sophie Topfeather, Superstar!" It's what happens when Sophie and Timley make it back to the Park and try to maintain their new faith--and friendship. Both aren't nearly as easy as they hoped!
Sonja Anderson When my daughter was five, she had a discussion on the playground with a Jewish friend and a Buddhist friend about God. It made me realize that they didn't have many ways to learn about each other's faith, especially in a way that would be respectful, informative, and a LOT of fun!
