John Waite Hi Ian, thanks for your kind response and good luck with tracking down the book.
When you say you are interested in my take on Claudius; what is it that you'd like to know exactly? Bear with me for a response to your clarification by the way. I tend not to check my Goodreads page too regularly as I'm fairly new to the site and not getting a lot of traffic on it as yet.
John Waite Music - because it inspires, it cheers and it motivates.
John Waite Freedom. Nobody can tell you what to write - or how to write it. You are in complete control.
John Waite Don't give up! Life as a writer brings more than its fair share of kicks in the teeth, abject disappointment and rejection. Its also not something which pays a whole lot of money. That being said; your writing is your art. Its you, bearing your soul - so just keep putting it out there. There's no guarantee of fame and fortune but the satisfaction you get from just one total stranger liking your work is pure gold.
John Waite Book 2 - of course!
John Waite Like so many authors, the desire to write gnawed away at me for years. Oddly enough, the confidence to actually write a book grew from my time as a police officer. Weird, I know, but I was very particular about my reports and prided myself on developing the grammar and structure of the often very complex documents I submitted. I became very respected for that aspect of my service and I suppose it really all just evolved from there.
John Waite Britannia is a development of my very first book 'Legionary - a Call to Arms'. That book was fact based fiction, inspired by Lindsey Allason-Jones' book, 'Roman Woman'. As a title which was very niche in its appeal, I thought I'd do a re-write of Legionary, using the same historical backdrop and most of the old characters but really adding much more popular appeal. (Well - hopefully!)
