Okay so that is a hard one.
From my own writing, I love Eslin and Mia, characters from the Sorrows series. I think they work well together and are true partners. I think I love partnerships like this, where both are able to protect each other and allow their vulnerabilities to show. From classic literature, who could dispute Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy as the king and queen of relationships - seriously, how many 'reimaginings' of these two have there been?
Holmes and Watson, not, of course a couple in the traditional sense, have a soft spot in my heart. I think Holmes may have been the first dysfunctional character I recognized and could associate with.
Terry Goodkind's Richard Cypher and Kahlan Amnell make it to my list simply because she is a strong female lead and together they made a strong pair. Plus I read Wizard's First Rule in one night - such a good book!
Finally, there have been many couples in lesbian fiction that I could consider a favourite, possibly because I am a romantic at heart and every book I read in this genre has characters with facets I can associate with. Lindsey and Nicole from Robin Alexander's The Secret of St Claire are two I particularly like because Nicole gave Lindsey strength to be herself. Plus it's a really funny book. Also Vanessa and Cade from S Y Thompson's Destination Alara are a great couple because neither gives up on each other.
So favourite fictional couple? Honestly, you could have asked me to explain the theory of relativity, it would have been easier!

When I was younger I lived near Lindisfarne on the North East coast. The place, especially the causeway, fascinated me, so when I was asked to write a short 2,000 word assignment based upon a phrase from when I was younger, Lindisfarne (Holy Island as it is known locally) sprang to mind and the phrase - Holy Island for heron eggs - was the starting point for this book.

Seriously, don't give up! It might prove difficult, some days draining. But on others, on the days when you see someone has bought your book, or even liked something you posted about your book, your heart lifts and you realise, hey, someone out there appreciates what I have done!

Inspiration is sometimes difficult to find. However, lately it has become a tad easier. Firstly, I bought a digital camera and have been rather prolific in using it! Nature is a wondrous gift we sometimes overlook in our race to get things done; I've taken quite a few pictures of the sky, the moon and even cobwebs and suddenly I feel more confident in my writing. Secondly, the creative writing course I have started has helped. See my blog for more details!

This is difficult to answer, as there are so many! Seeing that someone has purchased your book, something that you created and nurtured, is quite a buzz. Not having it returned even more so! I also love when a character speaks to me; Eslin in particular wouldn't shut up and her character evolved from Jacob's sidekick to a much more involved personality.

I am currently working on the second book of the Sorrows Series provisionally titled Abiding Sorrows, as well as a stand alone lesbian romance.

Some days the words flow, when they don't, the frustration builds. I find the best thing is to step away completely and go for a walk. I live near boglands in the west of Ireland, and I find if put on some headphones and completely forget about my writing I relax enough for my characters to start talking to me again.
