Sabeeha Rehman Elaine, I would love to join you. I do indeed do bookclub visits, both in person and via Skype or FaceTime, depending on the location. I live in Manhattan.

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?
Sabeeha Rehman Father Ralph and Meggie in Thornbirds. There is nothing like forbidden love, a love that endures. It broke my heart when Ralph forsake her for the Vatican, and rejoiced when they were united. Richard Chamberlain's finest performance in the TV mini-series.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Sabeeha Rehman I change course. Start a new chapter, write the ending, or the prologue.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Sabeeha Rehman You unleash your creative potential. You express what you cannot in a conversation. And you get to edit and perfect what you say.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Sabeeha Rehman Just write. And see where it takes you.
Have a schedule, be it first thing in the morning or last thing at night, and stick to the schedule.
Take classes and go to symposiums and book readings.
Form a writers group and learn from one another. Meet regularly, at least once a month.

What are you currently working on?
Sabeeha Rehman I write a blog every week on issues related to the theme of my book. I also blog on items of interest to writers. My latest blog was about a daughter's regrets on Father's Day.

How do you get inspired to write?
Sabeeha Rehman I feel passionately about building bridges between faith communities and Muslims and their neighbors and country-people. I don't indulge in an academic discourse, rather expose my personal life as an example of what it is like to be a Muslim.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Sabeeha Rehman With anti-Islamic sentiments on the rise, I wanted to show that the heart of a Muslim woman is like that of any other.
