Rohret Buchner A chance encounter with a stranger in New York City. A clever gambit led to a date, then I never saw him again. He was intriguing, with an unusual job that interrupted our first and only date. What if...?
Rohret Buchner Keep writing. Anything. Even if you are a fiction writer, doing technical writing, drafting press releases, or editing and proofreading other writers' documents all contributes to becoming a better writer.
Rohret Buchner The best thing about being a writer is that it's a way to incorporate observation, imagination, and opinion into a single discipline that draws influence from multiple sources. There is a wonderful sense of satisfaction reaching an end point in writing, even though I could continue to edit a document into eternity if given the chance.
Rohret Buchner The best way I deal with writer's block is to move on to another section of the book that either needs editing or writing. Rohret Buchner The inspiration to write comes from the need to tell the story, and the need to edit and polish and reread and rewrite the words in the best service of the story.
Rohret Buchner Growing up in Wyoming I've long had a fascination with Antarctica because it seemed like one place that was more extreme than Wyoming can be on a day with 70-mph winds and ground blizzards. On a good day both places have stunning scenery and beautiful night skies. Add to this the intrigue of hidden worlds like Shangri-La in Lost Horizon, and strong female characters who get to do more than sit on the sidelines, and it led to the idea for this book.
