Jacy Morris Hi Cyd, thanks for the question! Believe it or not, We Like It Cherry came to me as a dream... a beautiful nightmare. When I awoke, I wrote down some notes and then set about making it into a full novel. As far as where to begin reading my stuff, I've got like thirty books. The newer ones are better than the older ones as I've grown as a writer, so it depends on what you're looking for. If you start with We Like It Cherry, you'll be starting with my best work. If you want to see the progression of a writer, This Rotten World was my first, but a word of caution, that series is up to eleven books, and most people who go into that series never come out because they get so attached to it. Or you could read We Like It Cherry and work backwards, which would be fun as well. I have 31 books, so there are a ton of options for how to attack my books. I know that might not be helpful, but those are just some fun options to try out!
Jacy Morris My most recent book was Killing the Cult. It was inspired by a package I received in the mail from a friend who had become a sort of born-again Christian. I immediately wanted to save my friend from this cult... hence, Killing the Cult. I didn't kill anyone though. My friend is fine. I've come to accept his religion, though I still find it weird.
Jacy Morris I am often struck with inspiration. It can happen anywhere, on the way to work, watching a movie, in my backyard. When I get an idea, I let it roll around in my head. If it goes away, so be it. If it sticks around, I'll write it... if I get the time.
Jacy Morris I'm currently working on the final part of my This Rotten World series. Should be done by the end of the summer. I have some ideas for spinoffs, but the for characters in the series, this is their last hurrah.
Jacy Morris Write a bunch... every day. Share it with people. A blog is a great way to increase your skills. Study the rules of the English language. Read a ton. It's that simple.
Jacy Morris Creating worlds is the best thing for me. I don't actually write anything where I'm not creating something, an alternate society, a vision of a different world. Even my books based in our world seek to twist it in some way to make it unrecognizable.
Jacy Morris I've never actually had writer's block. The concept doesn't make sense to me. I find, I simply don't have the time or the motivation, but I can always make the words happen if I need to.
