Victoria Reincourt Usually it involves a lot of staring at a blank screen. After than, I'll put my headphones on and play some music while staring at the same blank screen. Either a path will open up or it won't. If I can't come up with a form for what I want to do, I'll give myself the night off and sleep on it.

By the next day, if there's still nothing, I'll just start typing on that same blank screen from the day before. Anything. Everything. Whatever comes to my mind, I'll just start typing it. I'll keep on typing until something feels like it may be becoming coherent. I'll stop and go over what I wrote, and usually a sentence or even a word may spark something for me to brainstorm about.
Victoria Reincourt I'm currently working on a novel that is based on the after effects from my short story, Free Use Festival. Back in the US, the media didn't take very kindly to the episode that happened on stage back in Esterbourne, so the band is trying to find their way while reeling from the media backlash. Media helps shape public opinion, so the whole thing is going to be an uphill battle. While the short story was explicitly erotica, the one I am working on now isn't as much. There will be shades of it, yes, but as an author I am trying to transition myself from erotica a bit. While it's fun to write the action scenes in all of the shorts, I believe Ember has so much more to offer from her story. It is an adventure exploring her and her group.
Victoria Reincourt Write. Never believe your work isn't good enough. Never think the process is too overwhelming. Write some more. Write when you're happy. Write when you're angry. Write when it's the last thing you want to do. The range of emotions you feel when you write leak into your characters and make them feel more human. Yeah, you may not ever make a best-seller list, but you never know when your story could change the life of someone who reads it.
Victoria Reincourt Being free to create your own world with your own people. We spend so much time doing things under other people, not being able to take absolute charge of something the precise way we want, because most of us have a boss telling us how to do things. However, sitting in front of that screen is where I'm totally free. No one telling me what to do, or how to do it. The pain of the world pushed away from my mind as I just let myself bleed through into the words. It's liberating, and I think everyone should have something that makes them feel that free.
