I usually see a scene played out in my head and build a story around that. For Chasing Stars, I was inspired by a dream that my best friend had a hot twin brother and she wouldn't let me talk to him. A lot of times a song will give me a feeling I want to build a story around. My inspiration is multi-faceted.

I got the idea for my most recently finished first draft while I was watching a documentary about Flamenco dancers in my high school Spanish class. Interestingly enough, it has nothing to do with Flamenco, Spanish, or dancing.
