Hello, Palak! I just saw this question. Thanks so much for asking! The Surpanakha Trilogy is scheduled for publication in 2020 now, but don't despair, because there is good news! Today through Monday a new novella is available for free! Today is Edmund's 200th birthday, and to bridge the gap between The Sita Chronicles and the upcoming two new series, I have written six scenes from the Age of Truth that are available from Amazon as a free ebook this weekend (April 26-April 30, 2018). You can find the links on my website: http://www.sitachronicles.com/ or search for "The Riddle by Ashley Mayers" on any local Amazon site and "buy" them for $0.00.
The Surpanakha Trilogy will be published in 2020, because I've been working on a new five book prequel series that is scheduled for publication before the end of 2018. The Glorious Victories of Eleanor MacLeod is a prequel/sequel that takes place in the 1920s, following Edmund and his wife Eleanor (Ellie's mother from The Sita Chronicles) as Shakti guides them into the first steps of the Age of Truth. There will be a whole new world of surprises, and many of our favorite beloved characters, including Mélusine, Kuveni, Vibhishana, and Surpanakha, will make appearances :).

It has to be Vibhishana! I love the complexity of his character as a Rakshasa who has made a conscious decision to support Rama, and the interesting moral dilemma that his choice creates when he has to go against his family and his race to follow a dharmic path that he believes is more righteous than what his brother (Ravana) is doing. I also love that his family and the fact that he is a demon do not define his character, that his actions and choices are more important - this concept is a very important theme throughout the SITA CHRONICLES. Vibhishana and several other Rakshasas become very important characters as the series progresses.
In THE SITA CHRONICLES, I can't pick one favorite character. I'm hopelessly in love with all of them ;). I will say that I love Supriya, of course, and her journey in Book One is just beginning. Traveling with her through seven books as she becomes the hero is really exciting. Then there is her grandmother, Sabrina, and her mother, Shanti, who both are pivotal later in the series, as well as a few other fantastic strong women who come into play in the later books. I love all of them!

The series is called THE SITA CHRONICLES because Sita, from the ancient epic, the Ramayana, plays an important role in the series, both as historical context from her role in the original epic and as a more active entity with a modern twist. Explaining her role too deeply will give away spoilers, so you should definitely read the book to learn more about how it gets its name! I will reveal that Sita is not the only character from the Ramayana who joins the modern characters in this modern epic–Rama, Hanuman, Surpanakha, Ravana and Vibhishana also play important roles in the first book, with additional characters joining later on in the series.

THE SITA CHRONICLES is a modern epic that includes characters from the ancient Ramayana. As the series develops, there are science fiction elements that are woven into the story, bringing together the mythic and the scientific into the context of a modern fantasy epic. While THE SITA CHRONICLES has roots in Indian mythology (Including the Ramayana and other references that will be revealed later in the series), it is an entirely unique modern story.

THE SITA CHRONICLES came into being from a summation of many wonderful experiences living and traveling in India, but it solidified one day while I was stuck at a military checkpoint in rural Karnataka.
I was having one of those road-trip philosophical discussions that only come about after too many hours in the car, and somehow, the concept just popped into my head. The intriguing complexity of the Hindu epics (in which almost nothing is black and white), and the flawed humanity of the many divine characters really stuck with me and began to blossom into the modern story that I am telling now.
Three years later, RED SAPPHIRE is published and I have been writing a marathon through the next several books in the series. I've hopelessly fallen in love with my characters, and I simply can't tear myself away from them now.
