I think the obvious choice would be Kristen Stewart due to her natural straight face. But Kate Beckinsale could bring the character more to the forefront. I'm sure there are younger options that might work well. Who do you think would make a good Riley?

Write your first book as fast as you can. It doesn't have to be perfect. Get it written. Go back and do a quick rewrite to add flavor. Review it for mistakes. Make your own cover and self-publish it. Figure out how to get it in the hands of readers that will appreciate your work. Learn from it. Then write again, improving quality and marketing efforts. Writing is fun. Don't take all the enjoyment out of it by thinking that if your first book isn't the best thing that ever hit the market that you'll never write again. You can always go back and improve older books if you want. It took me eight years to write my first book. Now I can put out a new book every two months and it is a heck of a lot more fun.

I never get writer's block. I have more ideas than I have time to write. I know that is not helpful to other writers, but it is true. One of the reasons I don't get stuck without something to write about is because I am always asking 'what if?' For example, what if people thought they were in a spaceship when they actually never left Earth. What if mythological creatures were actually shapeshifting aliens that were copying the forms they assumed on other inhabited planets? I can watch almost any show or read any book and come up with ideas that have little to do with what I am watching or reading. I often can not read an entire book without making notes for several new books of my own. So, to avoid writer's block, I would recommend changing your perspective.

Reader appreciation. To put something out there that is entirely me and then have so many readers enjoy it is something that can't be compared to success in any other field. I love reading reviews and taking readers comments to heart when I write sequels. Even when someone hates a character it can be great. Some characters are meant to be hated. But I love giving the reader multiple facets of each character's personality before they judge. When I get varied feedback on the same character in a series I known that I've done a good job.

I'm finishing up the second book of the Dirty Girls series, entitled Dragon Girls. I love writing this series because there is such much to work with. An alien planet, dragons, strange beasts, body modified beautiful women, a space ship, time travel, and a talking monkey-like alien bear. Oh, yeah, the main character is also an ex-convict that likes to sing perverted versions of his favorite songs.
Dragon Girls continues the story by building relationships and fighting some dragons. The plan to repair the crashed spaceship opens up so many possibilities for sequels. I'm very exciting about where this story is going.
Unlike my other series, this one will have a new title for each book. Dirty Girls is book one. Dragon Girls is book two. And book three looks like it will be called Monster Girls. I expect several more books after that.
