Curtis Hawk I was at first just writing short stories that involved my children when they were young and then reading it to them at bedtime.
When my grandchildren were being born and growing I wrote about them inserting them into the story. Example one granddaughter liked little bunny rabbits, so she became a little bunny and her daily adventures began. Again Reading to them when they visited grandpa. After having seven grandkids I had a lot of little short stories about them as the characters, My daughters used them having each of their children draw themselves as that character doing what the story described. on the story page. Making it a short story book with illustrations. they then had those pages bound into a cheap little book called Grandpa's Bedtime Stories and presented to me as a Christmas gift.
Curtis Hawk That is really a hard question. I really do not consider myself a writer or author. I am simply just writing down some rambling thoughts about the character until I find that if I add an adventure to what that character may be doing, at the time it evolves into a place where I have to carry them through that incident and find a way to get them to move on to the next chapter of their life. so the best thing is making that character move on through whatever he/she is facing at the time. I just try to make it fun to write down ideas.
Curtis Hawk Usually, when I face a writer's block, I simply stop working on that story and pick up on a totally different genre. That way my mind has left the facing the problem on where to take the story I had been working on. If I pick up that story again. I either can see where to go or set it aside again until a later date.
