Jay Keefe I don't get writer's block.

When I'm stuck on a character or storyline, I'll write something else. Or, worst-case scenario, I'll read.

Reading, more often than not, will get at least get the creative juices flowing.
Jay Keefe I don't write to make money (although money is nice).

I write to "get it out", so to speak.

It's cathartic and cleansing and clears out the cobwebs.
Jay Keefe I'm going to sound like a parrot but, write.

Set aside a time every single day (doesn't matter what time) and write. But keep it consistent. Every day.

Read as much as you possibly can.

And I highly, highly recommend reading as many books on how to write as you can get your hands on.

"On Writing" by Stephen King was excellent. Short and simple but packed with so much knowledge.
Jay Keefe I'm working on a collection of short stories that overlap and take place at a location that's very dear to me.

Each of the main characters from each story has something universal in common (no spoilers here!) but they don't know each other. Yet.

I wrote ferociously late last fall but stepped away from the book to focus on updating and revising "And Drink I Did" and to finish "Wicked F*cked."

I think it may be time to revisit the short stories again.

Jay Keefe I try to write at least something every day, even if it just ramblings, thoughts or something funny or inspirational on social media.

I heard a story about when Bono was in school and the teacher was telling them about Oscar Wilde (I think?) had writer's block.

Bono raised his hand and said, "Why didn't he write about that?"

I've never had writer's block. Some of it can be trite or trash, but I still write as much as I can.
Jay Keefe I was driving through the city two years after the marathon bombings and noticed a huge Boston Strong banner hanging in the archway to the Boston Harbor Hotel.

I felt an immense sense of pride and wanted to capture that.

I began "Wicked F*cked" later that day.
