I currently have several toddlers, so I'd have to say that would be children's thoughts behind the things they do... This actually helped inspire my upcoming fantasy novel!

Sometimes I get random ideas, sometimes I'm inspired by beliefs about life and want to communicate them. But most of the times I just have to sit down and write - ideas come after I stick my fingers on the keyboard and make myself do it!

The fun of watching your characters grow beneath your pen, and the opportunity to remind people of important truths.

It can be hard sometimes. The major method that comes to mind is just buckling down and cranking out words, even when they don't sound right. Editing while I go is really the biggest reason I find for writer's block. Sometimes writing about something that has happened to me or something I've been feeling lately is a good way to jog the keyboard as well.

Be persistent: "the most important thing about a writer is that he writes." It's all too easy to come up with great story ideas that never get finished because you get bogged down in the details of editing as you go.

Hi! Good question. The answer depends a lot on what I'm writing. For my current book its a mixture of movie soundtracks, old rock songs about time travel, muppet songs, and the theme from Shaun the sheep.

Up next is an exciting alternate history, time travel story. Dr. Calvin Schmitt, a burned-out veterinarian with a long neglected interest in medieval history, is accidentally whisked back to the 16th century Mediterranean. Or was it an accident? Cal and his friends are suddenly the major obstacle in the wild scheme of an enigmatic villain intent on changing the world, and must decide if preserving the future they once knew is worth risking their lives in the past. Within these pages you will find carefully researched historical facts centered around the pivotal Battle of Lepanto combined with speculative science fiction, philosophical discussion, relevant debate about the religious wars between the east and west, quirky humor, and page-turning storytelling. I hope to have this out by 2016.
