Emma Thorne It totally depends on the book. Right now, I'm finishing "His Three Piece Suit" which has a cowboy, which means I'm listening to a lot of the Dixie Chicks. I love the Dixie Chicks all the time, but right now, the emotion of their singing and the sweet melodies of their music really transport me to Shea O'Toole's world in Salishan, WA. For Book 2 "His Four Poster Bed" I listened to a lot of Lana DelRay. She was just so much more Odessa and Marco. So, mood, words and tone are really critical. I think of the music as the support crew fanning the creative fire.
Emma Thorne Ideal environment is anywhere I can sit with headphones on in a room with lots of light. I actually enjoy writing out in the world. There seems to be energy out there that fuels me better than sitting alone. I do write at home alone as well, but it's so easy to distract yourself at home. When you are at a lovely coffee shop....or even better a bar...it's much more difficult to think about the laundry that isn't done, or the baby clothes that need folding.
Emma Thorne Oh, this is such a good question. I am a pretty fast writer. I can crank out a draft to a well planned book in a few weeks. Then it takes an equal number of weeks to revise. Right now, I'm averaging about 2 months from start to finish. In all honesty, I LOVE the revision part of the project the best. That's when these fabulous magic moments occur. It's so much easier to add sparks and turn up the emotion after the bones of the story are there.
Emma Thorne I try to ignore it! Everyone gets writers blocked. I've worked through it by writing some truly awful stuff until the good stuff resurfaces. I've also switched stories to get the gears moving in another way. Writer's block is this awful thing that gets between you and your story. It goes away but it's one more thing that threatens to keep you, the writer, out of the chair and away from those magical words that create your story.
Emma Thorne Writing has always been one of my biggest joys in life. Doing something I love is remarkably satisfying and interacting with my readers. I love to hear from readers and understand what worked and what didn't work for them. Writing is solitary but focused on sharing in a very outward way, that connection is truly blissful.
Emma Thorne Write as much as possible and don't be afraid to revise and have fun. I have found that if the story is not fun to write something is wrong. Sexy + Fun = Happily ever after in my worlds in the story and the process.
Emma Thorne Book 2 in Bedroom Secrets will be coming out early in 2016. I am polishing that draft and working on the outline for Book 3 as well as another series.
Emma Thorne I get inspired to write all the time, but don't wait for inspiration to come. I set word count goals and block out writing time. I have children, so creating blocks of free time to write is critical.
Emma Thorne The Bedroom Secrets romance series was born out of a comment a friend of mine made on social media. She remarked that she lived in a building in Seattle filled with gorgeous women who all had very "active" love lives.

I started to imagine a building which became The Holiday, where each woman, and each room has a story to tell.

Book 1 - His Five Night Stand is the first of the Bedroom secrets stories.
