Peter Lee Lots of horse racing books! I'm currently reading Horse Racing Memories by Drew Slater, and a biography of the horse Dr. Fager by Steve Haskin. Inspiration for my next book?
Peter Lee Narnia. It seems a little safer than Middle Earth, and I loved the idea of children traveling through wardrobes trying to get to that mythical place. Many times I tried to go through my wardrobe hoping to find something at the end. All I found was cold metal.
Peter Lee Sadly, this inspiration comes and goes. It's like running. Sometimes it seems like a chore, but once you start doing it, it's not that bad. Some days I have to force myself to write, even if I think I have no ideas whatsoever. Something needs to emerge daily.
Peter Lee Besides marketing my book, I'm going back to my much-neglected blog, Hooks and Harmony, and trying to pump some new life into that. That means listening to more music and getting new ideas for posts.
Peter Lee It's the internal satisfaction you get from putting your thoughts down on paper. It's a form of therapy in some ways, working out what's going on in that muddled brain and seeing it in somewhat coherent sentences.
Peter Lee I don't really have a problem with writer's block; I was a journalist and learned to plow through the mental barriers that come with writer's block. When I occasionally can't come up with the next scene or action, I just plow through it. Editing can sometimes be easier than writing.
Peter Lee Write, write, write. A mentor once told me, "You're not a writer if you don't write."
Peter Lee I’ve always been fascinated with the “What if” aspect of the Beatles. They broke up in the prime of their careers, with so much more music left in them. This book is my attempt to guess what would have happened if they continued making music together.
