C.C. Lynch I typically stick with young adult / new adult fiction but I am really trying to broaden my reading by trying out autobiographies, classic literature, fiction, non-fiction, historical, and science books. Mostly what I will be reading is children's books and probably the same ones for many nights in a row. If the demands of motherhood allow, I am going to try and read at least five of the big sellers before switching back to my tried and true young adult fantasy books.
C.C. Lynch There are four different books I'm working on right now. One is what I call the "secret" book, another is based on a dream (hide your shock, please), there is a novel that I am trying to put a lot of effort into so that it can be considered literature, and one that I have been playing around with for half a decade.
The "secret" book is the one that I can probably finish writing (not editing) in about two months if I can wipe away this self doubt and writer's block. I suppose that can be applied to the others, but the "secret" book will align with what I have already written and sent out into the world.
C.C. Lynch The duality of it.
Writing is the most natural thing I can do. Creating characters and stories is something I do daily; putting them on paper is something I do weekly. My imagination is the most comfortable place I can be.
Writing is also the most difficult thing I have ever done. Sending a book out into the world puts me in the most vulnerable place possible. I am opening the deepest parts of myself to the world to be enjoyed, studied, criticized, ignored, and everything in between.
The best thing about being a writer is that, second to my daughter, it is the thing that makes me happiest.
C.C. Lynch Don't give up! Write anything and everything. Those bold choices you make in your work set you apart from everyone else so don't be afraid to take risks (I'm looking in the mirror while giving this advice).

Wrote a book and sent your query to an agent and got a rejection? Congratulations! You're officially a writer.
Writing a query is hard. You have to sell yourself and your book in a few simple sentences and match those sentences to the personality of the agent you want to champion your work. How much more personal can it get?
Utilize any sort of help out there and don't be afraid to ask questions.
Writing is not easy. Don't let any part of it discourage you.
C.C. Lynch I never push too hard. If I really get stuck I take some time to clear my head. I'll watch a new television show or movie, read a book, take a few walks, and do something that is calming.
Typically when I have it, it is because I have too many ideas swirling. When that happens I write down a few of them on a piece of paper and let it sit over night.
Watching a television show or movie helps me to see what I like about certain characters, what resonates with me, and how I can use that influence with the characters in my head.
The worst writer's block I had was when someone said something that was meant to be supportive but actually caused me to freeze. It was when I realized people were actually reading and waiting for my book. This was a solid two months of "I'm screwing this up" thoughts. What got me through this was a friend that asked me a simple question about a character. I finally remembered the excitement I have when writing and that night I wrote six chapters.
There are different types of writer's block and different ways to deal with it. Personally, I just need to let my head clear and take it easy. If nothing happens within a week, I sit in front of the computer or notebook and just type random sentences until thoughts form.
If you're reading this because you have writer's block, good luck and you're going to get through it!
C.C. Lynch The Gifted series was based on a set of dreams I had. As I wrote and edited Glaston and Replicator, more dreams came having to do with the same people and I strung those together to make The Gifted. My proudest part of the book would be chapter 10 (and a few chapters afterwards) where I was able to mesh in what it feels like for me when I have sleep paralysis.
