Heather P. Smith I noticed that every book as a particular energ or feel to it. I write from following that energy, speaking to that energy and what matches that energy that the book is asking to be. Becuase of this I also have no deadlines, due dates or rules for when or how writing has to be done.

When the energy of the book is there, in my awareness, in my head and present I write. If that energy is not there, I don't write. If it is one sentence, I write one sentence. If it is an entire scene or scinario, I write that. Whatever shows up, for however long shows up I do my best to put words to it.

Becuase I am also inspired by what I am writing about, I don't try and push to create it. Sometimes I write every day, sometimes I won't touch it for a few weeks or a month even. Though I am usually enthusiastic about my projects so it rarely goes that long, unless the energy for it is not there.

I don't consider a "block" a problem, I instead ask "what can I be aware of that the book is asking to be that I never considered?" then hang out, go about my life and see what shows up. I ask the book what it would like to be and trust that it will reveal itself to me in a million ways I never considered.
Heather P. Smith There are no limits, boundaries or rules. I can create anything I desire, for any purpose or reason, or for no reason at all. I get great joy from inspiring and inviting a different possibility beyond what others may have considered or even dreamed up. That lights up my world. And the sheer joy of creating keeps me up at night! Love living that way!
Heather P. Smith What is so much fun for you to write about that you can't wait until the next moment you have to get to it?

When you enjoy the entire process, play with it and do it for the fun of it you are able to avoid the pitfalls that so many fall into of judging themselves, their writing or what they have to say before they start or all along the way. Judgment always kills. If you had no judgment of what you have to say, what would you say?

Heather P. Smith Having never written a novel before and having no
pre-conceived notion of the right or wrong way to procede I continued to follow whatever showed up, as the joy of it for me. I would write a few sentences on my iPhone, I would write for hours on my laptop, I would scribble notes on a napkin...this has been a playful creation that I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing!

Whenever any inspiration shows up I write it down and/or at least make a note of it.
Heather P. Smith This story started in a flash of inspiration...

I was on my way home from a life changing and uplifting trip to New Zealand. It was in the first few hours of the long flight home that I suddenly had a scenario run through my head. Vivid, clear and embodying more than just the images. It was a visceral, energetic scene unfolding in my minds eye. I thought to myself, "This would be a great story" and instead of letting it go at that, I actually wrote it all down. This became the opening scene to this book "The Pharaoh's Builders"!

Just as the first scene unfolded with a life of its own, so too did the rest of the book. I would write when it was easy, when it was fun and when it had that energy of the first moment of conception.

The charactors or relationship between charactors and the events that were to unfold sometimes only in a few words, sometimes the entire scene, sometimes without words, just a sense of an energy not yet actualized. I played with it, I asked it to reveal what it would like to be.
