I love to write historical fiction, Victorian melodrama. The idea for my third book was developing as I put the finishing touches to The Ghost of Hearts-Hope - it always a tricky time when I am endeavouring to get one book published and ideas bubbling for the next one. Do other authors feel the same?

Oh, it is a compulsion for me. I get ideas for stories all the time. I will start a couple of projects, then go with the one that I engage with the most. I will revisit my other ideas, I usually have a few simmering on the back burner.

I am working on my 3rd novel, historical fiction, romance with a twist. It is set partly in Gloucestershire and partly in Victorian London. I am on chapter 19 of my first draft and still creating the plot and characters. I have an idea of plot and where I would like it to go, but my books tend to evolve naturally. I haven't even got a working title yet, lol.

Go for it, if you want to write, then do so. Do it for your pleasure, you have to enjoy the process, if you do that, then it will translate onto the page. Get people to read your work and get feedback, you write your book in your head, and sometimes this doesn't translate to someone else, so ensure you have the right flow and pacing.

Everything, the imagination is limitless, you can take your characters anywhere, and that is fun to do, the escapism for me and the reader. I also love it, if people have read one of my books and really enjoyed it, that gives me so much pleasure, to put a smile on someone's face, or have my readers finish one of my books and think, wow, I enjoyed that.

If I am struggling with my writing, I stop and either go for a walk, or do something else to distract myself, that's when I usually get inspiration.
