I take a nice hot shower, go for a long walk, or take a train ride. All three of these seem to get me in the mood to write. I always have my smartphone along so that I can jot down ideas and email them to myself. And I carry a pen and paper too.

I've got several books on the go, so if I get writer's block on one of them, I take a break from it and work on one of the others. Problem solved!

I travel a lot by train. On a train journey between Montreux in Switzerland and Milan in Italy (through the spectacular Swiss Alps) Astrid Sonnschein popped into my head and said 'Write me!' So I did.
