This question gets increasingly harder as I get older - I read and re-read more children's books now than ever, and they all blur into one.
However! I do have distinct memories of reading and loving a few books. I can even remember where I was when reading them, which still surprises me.
So... The Witches and Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl, Why the Whales Came by Michael Morpurgo (I have the battered, tatty old copy on my shelf!), Enid Blyton's Mystery Series. I'm sure there were others, but I should also say that I loved the Transformers comics to bits. I'd love to know if they still stand up, story wise!

There was a short, inconsequential scene in a film, where I thought 'that's interesting!', I wonder what would happen if I took that situation and ran with it.
