When I have writer's block, I try to envision the scene I'm attempting to write in my head. If I can't write it, it is because I'm not seeing it clearly enough. For the memoir, I actually looked on Google Earth at the photos of my childhood home.

As a hospice nurse, I had up to eighteen patients at a time. As a writer, I have the opportunity to reach so many more people. The greatest fear is the unknown, but by shedding light on the end of life I hope to alleviate some of those fears.

Alchemy of the Afterlife is a memoir based on my childhood as an orphan and my adult experiences as a hospice nurse. I decided to write the book because I realized I had information that would comfort others. I don't claim to have all the answers about life after death, but it is a start.
