Elizabeth Cobbs The VERY best thing? Someone retelling a story you told them, embellished with curious details you had since forgotten.
Elizabeth Cobbs I tell myself that I will write just a paragraph. Just one paragraph, and then I get to have a cup of tea. Works like a charm! I also accept that I will write a lot of drivel, which I can clean up later.
Elizabeth Cobbs I am just finishing a book called THE HELLO GIRLS. It's about America's first women soldiers, who served near the firing line in France in World War One. They were aces at the world's most advanced communications technology: the telephone switchboard. Commanding general "Black Jack" Pershing requested them specifically. Through diligent snooping I found three of their unpublished diaries. These young women were amazing! I can't wait to share their story.
Elizabeth Cobbs My friend Catherine Clinton, an eminent historian, suggested I write on Hamilton after I finished my novel on the Civl War. I thought to myself, "Well, even the devil deserves his due." I had little idea then that Hamilton had been so misrepresented--and that I would come to love him and his wonderful wife, Eliza Schuyler.
