Mark Rounds I just finished book 5 of Chris Nutsall's series on the Royal Navy in the future. While my shoulder was out of commission, I also read several first person histories of the second world war, the most moving of which was a Navy minesweeper crew of the USS Quayle that got out of the Philippines just ahead of the Japanese and made the crossing to Australia in a 36 foot motor launch.

Mark Rounds She walked carefree through the filed with sunshine reflecting from the flowers around her. Behind her trailed the darkness, consuming all the light in her wake.
Mark Rounds The book is complete and coming back from second round edits. The final rewrite is about a third of the way through. Mark Rounds When the vision in mind could not find it's way to the page. I can see my plots as visions in my head but sometimes, my poor command of the language doesn't do them justice.
Mark Rounds Constantly. They are also unruly and don't do what I tell them. It makes my writing more interesting because they do things that make for a fuller plot.
Mark Rounds In my case, the story grabbed me ;-) When I finished it, I found I had three more stories ripping around in my head. I wish I had a magic formula but it just happened.

Mark Rounds If I am stuck, I sit down and start writing the first drek that comes into my head. If I can't think of anything else, I start writing song lyrics or nursery rhymes. Eventually the log jam breaks and I can start getting something done.
Mark Rounds I have sequel to "Hell is Empty and All the Devils Are Here" complete using the title, "At This Hour, Lie at My Mercy All Mine Enemies" (Plague Years Book 2) I am working on the plot for the third book in the series and I have another manuscript in the hands of my beta readers. I have a Steam Punk story in the works and a script idea as well.
Mark Rounds I developed this story line while playing a game at a Historical Miniatures Convention. I started trying to put a plot behind the game and the result was "Hell is Empty and All the Devils Are Here".
