Donald Montano If you must write, then write. Start out by reading everything of note in the genre you like, and are interested in. Next start jotting ideas and thoughts down. Anything and everything. This will help in putting sentences together. Do not be afraid to let other people, friends more than family read your work and take their comments to heart. Above all, never give up. Soon, one chapter becomes a book and you have found what completes you as a writer. If you don't truly struggle through this beginning phaze, then perhaps you were never destined to become a writer in the first place.
Donald Montano With patience. . For me, a hole in my plot structure brings me to a standstill. Or struggling with a proper response in dialog. I need my writing pad then, or my laptop beside me when I go to bed at night and lay awake thinking, thinking. Sometimes the light comes in the middle of the night or the next morning as I am sipping a cup of coffee, but eventually the answer does come, usually in the form of a little bit here and a little bit there, gleaned from everything I have written down in my notes.
