What gave you the idea for your Deadly Rising set? Are any of the characters based on people you know?
Jeri Westerson The whole idea for the Booke of the Hidden series came to me in a dream. No joke. A rough outline, that is; a magical booke, Kylie, Doc, and a demon. I had to fill in the rest. :) And no one is based on anyone I know.

Is there an audiobook coming for Shadows in the Mist? I have all three of your books from your Booke of the Hidden series and the first two audiobooks and would like the third. I just love the series and can't put them down and hardly wait for the fourth and more, if there are?

I just finished Booke of the Hidden, how do define your characters??? Is there always a bit of good in them?. How many rewrites did this book require, in order to get a true picture of them?? Thank you for your time! It was wonderfully engaging and has me all excited for the next one. Marcy Ralston
Jeri Westerson Hi Marcy! Thanks for reading. I'm not sure I understand the question, "How do I define my characters." I think of my world as if all the myths we've ever known were real, so they wouldn't necessarily be defined by the myths we know about them. No one specific mythology is used overall, but a blend. My demons aren't evil for evil's sake. They are creatures created to be used by greater powers, as Erasmus was created for a specific purpose, that of guarding the Booke. That makes the demons just a bit tragic, I think, especially as they begin to understand this fact about themselves. And how many rewrites? You don't want to know. Lots! It wasn't really until I wrote the second book in the series that I had a handle on the characters, so I had to go back and rework some of the first book. I always knew what the last book in the series would be, but not specifics about the overall story arc. By the second book, I did. It's really fun to write it, the humor with the drama. It's very Buffy that way. By the way, the next one, DEADLY RISING, will be released in October 2018. And let me know if you'd like a bookmark and a signed bookplate.
