I can't remember. I wrote a first chapter about ten years ago (at least) and just left it on my PC, always intending to go back to it. Well, now I have.

I just have to fancy doing it and to believe that it will be worthwhile. My inspiration for the one that I am currently working on is the fact that my first book is now selling reasonably well again - for some reason.

Another sci-fi/comedy book, like my first one. So far it is going pretty smoothly, thanks mainly to previous experience. I hope that it will be finished by October 2017 at the latest.

Try it. Write ten or twenty pages and then set them aside for a week or so. Then see what you think of what you have written in a fresh light. If you are not actually embarrassed by what you have written then you can probably write.
If you decide to commit to a full book, I would advise reading up on plot theory if it's going to be a novel. You might save yourself a lot of pain that way.

It's just something that I enjoy doing from time to time, but I am not fanatical about it, I do lots of other things besides. The best part for me is the invention that goes into it.
