Cindy Stone There are so many mysteries in life. Scorpion was not only inspired by the mystery of life, but also the mystery of a necklace I was given with three ancient stones from the first century, the mystery of my great great grandfather who went to live in the Himalaya's to study with the mystics, and an esoteric martial arts practice that I had the good fortune to be introduced to decades ago and was compelled to study. You don't even have to look for the mystery to write about. It finds you if you sit long enough and listen to the wind and wonder...
Cindy Stone I love Thomaz and Theresa from The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera. Thomaz is commitment phobic and Theresa teaches him about commitment through their shared love of their dog. I often recommend this book to my clients who are struggling with similar issues in life.
Cindy Stone Sometimes not very well! Usually I go for a walk in the woods to reset myself.
Cindy Stone Words can change the consciousness of people and if you can do that while creating worlds inside minds, then you have touched people in ways that can be transformative.
Cindy Stone For years I didn't think I was good enough writer to write. Then I saw an interview with John Updike with Charlie Rose. John Updike said he went to school with so many people who were far better writers than he, but he was the only one who stuck with it and just did it. I decided in that moment that I may not be the best writer but I can be the one that sticks with it and writes. Ideas are everywhere. Craft is what really allows one to grow as a writer. Learn the craft and practice the craft of storytelling and writing.
Cindy Stone The second book in The Myriad Series. I'm excited about this story as it takes the characters into new places as they are evolving as people and martial artists.
Cindy Stone Whenever I discover an interest it becomes so much a part of my life that writing about it becomes natural, like internal martial arts, Qi Gong, Meditation, the power of the unconscious mind, nature and animals.

Cindy Stone There were many threads that wove together to create my most recent book, Scorpion, book one of The Myriad Series. I had a chance meeting with a very magical teacher of Internal martial arts about 15 years ago. That experience changed my life and I wanted to inspire others to explore ancient inner concepts and Taoist philosophy. I was given a necklace with stones almost two thousand years old, and it was so laden with history that I had to write the stones into the story. I also discovered my great great grandfather had gone into India and Tibet to study with the Mystics and he wrote books. The coincidences and the synchronicities kept lining up with the story.
