A.J. Noon I'm currently working on a YA trilogy with a strong historical thread to it. It involves taking people from our time to three different events where they have a chance to participate and influence the outcome.
I'm also trying to tidy-up some short stories for publication and finishing my MA.
A.J. Noon Story-telling has always been a big part of my life, and I think it was the frustration of reading something where you feel it could have been better written, or the ending was wrong, so I started wanting to 'fix' these. It lead on from there really.
As for sticking with it, if I didn't I would have to get a 9-5 job!
A.J. Noon Crosswords, writing simple rhyming poetry, writing my diary. As long as you are still playing with words, that is the most important thing.
A.J. Noon Once you have finished a piece, put it away for at least a couple of weeks and read and write something else. Then when you pull it out from under the bed you are coming back at it with fresh eyes.
A.J. Noon Finding out where my characters want to go. They drive the stories, not me, and as a story progresses it can be fun, and sometimes scary, to see what happens to them.
