Andrea Higgins The inspiration for all of my books to date has come from a deeply therapeutic form of mindfulness and movement training that I teach. It is called the Feldenkrais Method. It is a really interesting process-oriented method that helps to bring about positive physical, cognitive and emotional changes.

In my teaching practice I work with many wonderful people, who study Feldenkrais for many different reasons. Some come to improve their overall health. Others use it to better manage stress. I also work with athletes and performing artists who want to improve their movement efficiency and find greater expressive quality in their movement.

As you can probably imagine, my students inspire me every day, and when I see a trend that I think can help a lot of people, it turns into a book or audio program. My two most recent publications are a perfect example. "Awake Naps" started as a way to help some of my teenage students who were feeling very stressed. "Meditation: State of Mind or State of Awareness" came about as part of my research process into meditation, and how to apply Feldenkrais to it, in order to help out people who find more traditional forms of meditation challenging.
