As she fled desperately across the open field, terror shook and sweaty-palmed, her eyes struggled to adjust to the darkness of the night. She searched frantically for someone, something to run to, anything to shelter her from the fearsome shadow that was enclosing on her; but as the tears gushed from her eyes, blurring her vision she stumbled across an uneven patch of ground and tumbled down, landing haphazardly in a tangled heap of twisted limbs.

Being a writer is wonderful for many reasons, but to name the top three:
1. I do what I love for work!
2. It can be whenever I want- wearing whatever I want.
3. I have the opportunity to reach people's hearts and minds.

If you are serious about writing, here are a few tips:
1. Don't give up.
2. Be patient.
3. Be humble. Listen to feedback & don't be too proud to revise your work.
4. Rejections do not equal failure, nor do they mean that your work isn't good.
5. Give yourself room to grow. If you are in a writing rut, take a step back and clear your head. Take a walk. Hug your cat/dog. Listen to some music. Relax. Unwind. Come back.
6. Educate yourself on the industry. Writing is a business, and like any business, to be good at what you do, you must know how to do it properly.
7. Join a critique group & find some beta readers.
8. Continue sharpening your skills. A good writer never stops learning or growing.
9. Write what you love, and have fun!
10. And finally, back to #1. Don't. Give. Up. Keep going! Keep trying! Keep practicing, learning, growing. Rome wasn't built in a day.

My inspiration to write comes at very random and unpredictable times. Sometimes, it's right before I fall asleep. Other times, it's when I'm in a meeting, or waiting to join a conference call. Which is precisely why I have about a hundred and one notebooks in random nooks and crannies of my house/car. It can come from my pets, my loved ones, and even my own thoughts or questions.
