Michael S Denton Hi Michelle,

It's a cliché but I've always been told to write about what I know hence the setting of the book and the profession of the main characters.

As you know, the book features heavily on mental health and psychology. Having suffered myself in the past I wanted to dispel some of the stigma associated with mental health and allow the reader to challenge their perspective and ideas.

It draws on some of my feelings and emotions that I felt whilst growing up.

Thanks for the question!
Michael
Michael S Denton The strange thing about my mind is that even if I am not writing my brain is constantly thinking about where to take the story next. This means that when I sit down to write it's all there and I get it down as quickly as possible. That's not to say that I don't cope with writer's block. I have two methods of dealing with it. The first is to skip huge sections and write another part and return to it later. This allows me to throw down the thoughts I do have at the time and compile them later into something legible. My second and last resort is to accept that it's not going to be a productive day. I leave the desk for a few hours and do something else until I can come back to it!
