I go out and talk to people, learn their feelings, see their reactions. I'm a very bold person and I ask the questions or say the things most people won't and it's kind of fun to see people's reactions. Their reactions, inspire characters which inspire my stories.

I was working at a bank and one of the tellers said she'd walked to our meeting center. I told her I'd give her a ride back because it was super cold outside. We drove and drove for several blocks. It had to have been a good mile from the meeting center! I told her any killer could have been lurking in the shadows waiting to strike! The idea just blossomed from there.

Becoming a different person. Some of the characters are like me and challenge me to get out of my comfort zone because they have to. Other characters are completely different from me and I get to become something I'm not for the duration of my book.

Usually, for me, when writer's block occurs, it's because there is something better I can be doing in the story. I go back through and read the last two scenes I wrote and think of how I can do it better. It gets the creative juices flowing again.
