I was doing research for my Speculative Fiction Novel CHANGERS (coming next year) and I came across the story of David Vetter (the original bubble boy). I was so inspired by it, I had to write this story. It was meant to be a novella, but it turned into a full-length novel before to long (is my wind long?)

It follows the life of a "bubble boy" whose life was saved from a deadly virus by his condition. He has lived in a hermetically sealed bunker his entire life. Now, on his thirteenth birthday, a major malfunction will force Barton out of his home and into a hostile world he may be the only inhabitant of.

Don't stop and don't rely on anyone to make your dreams come true. If you've chosen this path in life, then all you have to rely on is yourself. You will write the story, you will sit in your living room acting out all your parts like a lunatic, you will punch yourself in the head when you have writers block, and you are the best advocate for your work. So if you want to do this, you are going to have to WORK really, really hard.

When I was little I couldn't decide what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to be a doctor and a marine biologist, an artist and a scholar, rich and poor, I couldn't commit. I wanted to do everything. Being a writer gives me the chance to live a thousand lifetimes in one.

Force it. You can't sit around waiting for inspiration to strike, she's too fickle for that. You have to lure her with coffee, a strong drink, or just taking her out on an old-fashioned date. Go to a museum, rifle through Half-Price books, meet a friend for dinner, GET OUT IN THE WORLD! Inspiration will find you.
