Jeanne Foguth The ability to work whenever and wherever I want... That is also one of the bad things about being a writer because certain people refuse to accept that writers are actually working when they are making notes, etc.
Jeanne Foguth I sit down with pen and paper and spend 15 minutes hand writing out every thought that pops into my head. This clears out whatever my mind is stuck on and allows me to get on with what I want/need to do.
Jeanne Foguth Children learn to walk by keeping at it... this is the same way you learn to do anything, including writing a novel.
If you feel the concept of an entire book is too intimidating, divide it into manageable portions. For instance, when I sit down to draft a new book, I start with Christopher Vogler's 12 points:
1. CREATE CONTRAST: 2. CALL TO ADVENTURE: 3. RELUCTANT
4. ENFORCE CALL: 5. ADVENTURE ACTUALLY BEGINS: 6. TESTS, ALLIES, ENEMIES: 7. EDGE OF DANGER: 8. ORDEAL: 9. REWARD:
10. ROAD BACK: 11. RESURRECTION: 12. ACTUAL RETURN
.... Does this method/plan resonate with you, as it does with me?
Jeanne Foguth I am busy finishing the rough draft of Kamakazi Xander de Hunter’s latest adventure. And while I don’t want to give too much away, Me-YEOW! takes place in India, which is halfway around the world from where Whispurring Winds, his home-base is moored, so he needs to be very vigilant.
