Regarding Three Condoms for Sarah, it all started when I was single. I don't know if I could write it now. Which again is a reminder to other writers: Carry a notebook, put one on your bed stand to write down your dreams. If I didn't take notes over the years, 3CFS never would have happened.

If you want to make lots of money, don't do this. If you want to write, do this. And don't do it expecting a huge audience (although I hope you get one). It's cliche but don't give up if you're having a hard time attracting readers. Most of what you write is for yourself anyhow. You'll always be the one who reads all of what you write and be most familiar. Do it for that reason alone and you'll be happy. The rest is gravy.

I can express and preserve my ideas and, thanks to the Internet, anyone can read them. It's the closest thing to immortality I have aside from my children who can pass on bits of me via DNA as time ticks on.

Read. Reading and exercising and conversations with others. The unconscious side of your brain will do the rest. And keep a notebook handy, jot down notes and clever things to be spliced in the future. I'm not writing when I'm sitting at my laptop, I'm writing when I'm doing those other activities. It's only when somewhere in innerspace do the ideas come that I sit down and piece them together.
