Poetry doesn't have to rhyme. It's nice if it does but it doesn't have to. I find that I write about something that gave me an emotional response like a night on a beach or a great song by a good singer or watching a children's choir at church.
Then I try to describe it in short sentences and see if I can make it have a good rhythm. If I can rhyme it that's great. If not I try to work on the rhythm. Make it move at a good pace. All in all it is an expression of you.

Since is a book of poetry several things inspired me and gave me ideas. Although it seems that much of it was a purging of sorts.
One was inspired by people trying to decide if they should attend college locally or go away to school, one by a man trying to tell his girl friend how he felt.
