For the one I'm currently working on it has a lot of inspiration in events and characters I knew growing up in the golf business twenty years ago. The story is completely original, but there's a lot back story inspirition from real events and people even though the characters are mostly amalgams of lots of people and the events completely made up. In the end, I think a lot of people will say, I know (or knew) a guy like that, and will relate to the events, but hopefully the story will be a completely new surprise.

I love telling stories. The inspiration is always there for me. It's just getting the time to get it out that's the real challenge, but my day job obviously provides plenty of inspiration. I think I've got a lifetime of books saved up from all the great characters I've met in the business over the years.

My fourth book, currently titled "Chasing the Dream". I know some might say what happened to the third book, but don't worry, that one, titled "Coming Home" is in the can and awaiting a spring publication. Both titles are fiction. They're the full novels of a couple of the short stories in Lessons from The Golf Guru Volume 2 - Secrets, Strategies, and Stories for Golf and Life.

Just do it. I think most of us feel like we've kind of got a book of some sort in there somewhere. It can be hard to put yourself out there, and even harder to hear criticism from time to time, but it's really freeing and a growing experience. Writing columns online where there's a forum of active comments has really helped me deal with that. Anonymous posters online can be brutal, but it makes you stronger, and you realize pretty quick that you can't please everyone so stop trying.

Writing things that people enjoy reading and hearing their feedback. It's really humbling to hear that something you wrote really helped or touched someone in some way. It's a blessing to be in a position to do that, and it doesn't happen every day, but when it does it's kind of magical.

I've unfortunately not exactly experienced it yet. I've had more of a problem with too many ideas for books I want to write and not enough time to write them. I do however get into a book and really not want to stop writing for streaks of time, and occasionally feel not quite in that same zone so to speak and then it's easier to get distracted with research.
