What inspires me? Sometimes it's what I see, looking at my dad's folded flag inspired me to write a short story (A Flag Folded: The Family Casualties of War) telling how the family also becomes casualties as well as their loved one killed in action, it has a five star rating.
Sometimes it's a though that won't go away (Silent Tears) short story, 5 star, I try to be alert as to what would make a good story and then go from there.

I'm writing about a nineteen year old who has been wounded in a firefight in Viet Nam, awakening from a two week long coma then told his mother had passed away. His left leg amputated from knee down his face scared, his life changed forever.

My advice is not to be disappointed by a low rating for a book, the next person may give the book a higher rating, think about what is being written if it doesn't look right or feel right the reader is probably going to feel the same way as the writer.

The best things about being a author is to bring words to life in the reader's mind. I don't write just for myself but also to write for the one that picks up my books.

I accept writer's block as a part of being an author, I walk away from the computer and don't return until I have new thoughts to add to the story.

A Flag Folded, there are many homes that have a flag folded in a display case usually where it can be easily seen. I wrote A Flag folded to remind us that pain, sorrow, and sadness doesn't end with the presentation of a folded flag and try to show how the families are also casualties of war. I guess the folded flag gave me the idea to write the story.
