Reading is a great source of inspiration. If I’m not feeling inspired to continue writing my own story, I read what I’ve written so far without looking for mistakes or corrections. I try to immerse into the reading as completely as possible, and when I reach the last sentence, I’m usually ready to pick up where I left off.

I’ve always been amazed by science fiction authors who manage to predict technology decades and even centuries ahead of their time. So I spun the dials forward on my mind’s clock to see what I could dream up on my own. I didn't come up with a prediction, but I was struck by a concept that seemed different than anything I had read. Within minutes, a complete story took shape from beginning to end. I jotted down the outline while it was still fresh and saved it away for posterity. Over the next few weeks, I couldn’t keep the story out of my head, and before long, I resolved that the story had to be written and I had to be the one to write it.
